As far as music is concerned, I grew up listening to everything from rock and roll to country to classical to other stuff, too … My Mom, who just turned 90 a few months ago, was a hardcore Elvis and Johnny Cash fan, so I heard a LOT of them … Plus stuff like Marty Robbins, Glen Campbell, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, and the list goes on … My Dad, a Korean Army Vet who died at 71 twenty years ago, and who has been residing in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore., ever since, was a country fan too, but he was much more eclectic: Everything from classical music to Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass, with lots of stuff in between.
Neither my Mom nor my Dad had ANY use for “rock and roll,” of course; they both thought it was nuts. Which it is … But, with thanks to my sister, nearly four years older than me, who was busy in 1969 listening to Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Rare Earth, Joe Cocker and Creedence Clearwater Revival, plus my own sojournings throughout the “Top 40” AM dials (1910 Fruit Gum Company, Herman’s Hermits, the BeeGees, the Monkees, that kind of crap), I was able to acquire a test for some of it anyway.
Consequently, I’ve got a pretty varied taste in music, myself as well, and I’ve always loved music — so when Barbie and I decided to make a “video” out of the pictures we took on our South Carolina trip back in 2015, we wanted to set that video to music — and words — as well.
For the first, “people” half, we went with one of the South’s best, as well as one of Barbie and I’s favorites: four songs by Alan Jackson (“Living on Love,” “Home,” “Small Town Southern Man” and “Remember When”), while for the second, “pretties” half, we went with varied instrumentals (“Love’s Theme,” “Classical Gas” and “Love is Blue”) — and, for the closeout, we went back to Jackson (with “God Paints”).
Just throwing it out there, Folks, for anyone who might give a hoot!!
Brad and Barbie’s South Carolina Trip — August of 2015:
You want to have a blast of your own? Head somewhere! Make a trip out of it … Have a blast … and do a “movie” out of it!! It’s a great way to record the memories …
